Just a quick note.  You can now easily print a recipe directly from its blog post.  Under each post you will see a section called Share and Enjoy.  This area contains icons where you can share a post with friends on another social media site like Facebook or Twitter.  Also within this section there is a printer icon which will give you a “printer friendly” version of a post.  Enjoy and don’t forget to rank your favorite recipes.

Dump Cake

Posted by TheApprentice on under Cakes, From Mom's Kitchen, Recipes | Be the First to Comment

By far this is my most favorite cake from my mother’s recipe book.  It is probably the easiest cake in the world to make!  Even easier than making a boxed cake because you don’t need to mix anything.

Appliances/Tools:

  • Oven
  • Microwave
  • 9″ x 13″ Pyrex baking dish

Ingredients:

  • 1 Yellow Cake Boxed Mix
  • 1 - 20 oz Can of Crushed Pineapple
  • 1 - 21 oz Can of Cherry Pie Filling
  • 1 - Stick of Butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. In an ungreased 9″ x 13″ pan dump can of undrained crushed pineapple and spread evenly
  3. Dump in can of cherry pie filling and spread evenly
  4. Sprinkle dry boxed cake mix over fruit evenly
  5. Melt butter in a microwave safe dish for 45 seconds
  6. Drizzle melted butter over boxed cake mix
  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown

This recipe is so simple to make, now you have no excuse not to bring a home baked cake to your next family gathering or pot-luck!

Welcome to The Wise Chef

Posted by TheApprentice on May 5, 2009 under Editorial | Be the First to Comment

The Wise Chef is a blog which give me an outlet to share my love for cooking and at the same time, it will hopefully provide the visitors a source of information on product reviews and new recipes.  I am not a trained chef, but rather an every-day, average joe who happens to enjoy cooking; that is the reason I use the user name of TheApprentice on the blog.  The Wise Chef will take shape over the next weeks and months to come.  I hope you find enjoyment in the information I present here.  I am not sure how the blog will develop over time, but one thing I can predict is this: You will always find “family” recipes and you will never have to go searching all over town for their ingredients.  I hope the users of this site will provide content as well through submitting recipes and commenting on my product reviews and recipes which I post.
